Welcome to Gulf LNG
Gulf LNG Services, LLC is a joint venture bringing together the professionalism, experience, and state of the art equipment of Bay-Houston Towing, Co., Suderman & Young Towing Company and Moran Towing Corporation to serve LNG vessels at the Freeport LNG Terminal in the port of Freeport, Texas.
Gulf LNG Services will operate four Tugs designed and built specifically to escort and assist the largest vessels in operation in the LNG fleet today.
The first three production units (trains 1, 2 and 3) at Freeport LNG will be capable of processing up to 15 million metric tons per year (mtpa) of nominal liquefaction capacity to the Quintana Island terminal facilities. Liquefied natural gas, or LNG, is natural gas that has been supercooled to minus 260 degrees Fahrenheit. At this temperature, natural gas condenses into a liquid. When in liquid form, natural gas takes up to 600 times less space than in its gaseous state, which makes it feasible to transport over long distances. In the form of LNG, natural gas can be shipped from the parts of the world where it is abundant to where it is in demand. The use of LNG is a proven, reliable, and safe process, and it has been used in the United States for more than 60 years.
